Weeks 13 & 14

The past two weeks have been hectic for baby J and me. Much to my dismay I had to return back to work after 13 weeks off of work.   The Sunday before retuning back to work we went to Jo-Ann’s Craft Store and found this adorable hat.  It was too big otherwise I would have purchased it.  She doesn’t look too happy wearing it.   7.15.12

Jaydyn has now gone to day care L and doesn’t seem to care that I am not around.  The first day I dropped her off it wasn’t as hard as I figured it would be.  The hardest part was when I went to pick her up from daycare (after 10 hours) and when I walked in… she turned her head away from me.  So… I said “JAYDYN” mommy is here and she still wouldn’t look towards me.  I figured she didn’t hear me so I picked her up and when I went to have her look at me she turned her head away.  I adjusted her body the other way to get her to look at me and she turned her head the other way.  Needless to say, I got her into her car seat and started heading home.  Before we got to the interstate, she was out!!! Mind you the interstate is less than a half mile from the daycare.

When I got her home, I fed her and put her pajamas on her and she was out again.  It makes me feel good that she was worn out from daycare, but all I wanted to do was cuddle and interact with her.  On day 2 of daycare I went to check on her on my lunch and it appears that she was adjusting quite well to being away from me.

Our morning routing starts early, but the lil one is definitely not a morning person.

The rest of the week went well and she went to grandma and grandpas house on Saturday while I worked.  Being that I had to go to work at 8am, I met my dad and stepmom at Krispy Kreme Donuts for them to take baby J.  My dad meets all of his buddies at Krispy Kreme on Saturday mornings to show off their cars, so this time they had the lil one to show off.  Watching my dad walk across the parking lot with J in the stroller was hilarious.  He was acting like the proud owner of a multi-million-dollar car.

The funny part is that if you know my dad, he is handy at fixing everything.  I called mid-day from work to see how they were doing and J was in the background screaming her head off.  When I asked if everything was alright, Jeanne responded with “well…. she is crying and we aren’t sure exactly why.”   Come to find out it was that she couldn’t get the formula out of the bottle because the nipple was clogged.  I recently started putting rice cereal in her bottles and never had a problem with it getting clogged, but dad fixed that problem.  He whipped out his handy dandy pocket knife and opened up the nipple.   That evening, I picked up the little one from dads and my stepmom had a notepad piece of paper that said everything Jaydyn did for the day and the time that it occurred.   To cute!

The next day I had to go back to my dad’s house to take a timed final exam for my accounting class and once again, dad hollowed out the nipple on the bottle.  Before I left dads house that evening, they gave her another bottle.  This time she had 99% of the formula running down the sides of her mouth.  Dad was feeding her and Jeanne was using the burp cloth to wipe up the spills. They are so fun to watch them interact with her.  Grandpa is starting her off right… Reading her a car magazine while she chills on the couch.

Well it goes without fail, baby J got her first cold.  Tuesday night she began getting congested and kept me up all night.  She had a fever, runny nose and was sneezing non-stop.  We had to sleep upright the whole night.  Look at her pitiful eyes while we were waiting to see the doctor:

They said that it was upper chest congestion and gave her amoxicillin.  It is amazing what modern medicine can do for anyone.  Within 24 hours, she was back to her smiling and laughing self.    She is growing like a weed.

On Saturday she went to spend the day with her Mimi.  She did great there and slept most of the time while she was there.  Thanks Mom!!!

The Olympics has officially started and today when I put her in her walker he feet actually touched the ground.  She sat in the walker and watched about 30 minutes of volleyball. I figured that since she was watching tv she was content so I went into the bedroom and go dressed.  When I came back into the living room, I about had a heart attack.  She was not where I left her!!! She was actually on the other side of the living room.  She is semi-mobile!!

Well it is another week down and many more to come.  Thank you for reading the “Journey of Jaydyn Elizabeth” and I will write more when I can.

Weeks 11 & 12

Week 11

Well the 4th of July has come and gone.  I was able to squeeze the little one into the outfit I made for her.   It fit her well in the length but was a little tight around her chest.  On the 4th we went over to my dad’s friend’s house and ate some good barbeque.  After that I decided to take Jaydyn to the neighborhood park to take some pictures of her in her outfit.  Unfortunately, we were still feeling the effects from Tropical Storm Debby and it was overcast out and humid. Here is a picture of the little one in her outfit in a laundry basket.

As you can see… she wasn’t too happy to sit in the laundry basket.  It was an overcast day and actually drizzling on her in the photo.  I believe that her face is the proof.
In fact here is another picture of her when she had finally had enough of me taking the pictures.  I figured we were done and even if she did stop crying her eyes would be too red for a picture.   My poor little DRAMA QUEEN.

That evening she was so wiped out from all of the events, I laid her down on the bed to finish folding laundry and couldn’t resist taking this picture.  Little one in a BIG bed.

As she gets bigger, she also accumulates rolls on top of rolls, but she is getting good holding her head up and loves sitting in her Bumbo seat.  The only problem is that her thighs are too big to fit in the Bumbo leg holes, so it takes a little muscle and pulling on the chair to get her in it.  It is even harder to get her out.

She is been getting easier to interact with.  She is a joy to be around and loves to crack a sideways smile at any given time.  Here are a few smile pictures:

On the 7th we went over to my dads house and hung out for a while and watched part of the NASCAR race.  I don’t think grandma was having a good time (LOL), she was having to watch the baby while dad and I chatted up a storm (and if you know my father that isn’t a hard feat).

Then grandpa decided to help Jaydyn find her yummy feet

Yep she has now found her thub

So… I purchased an embroidery machine to create some more crafts.  I am also going to try and embroider my dads racing suit so my dad and Jeanne met me at Jo-Anns crafts to select a thread color to match his suit.  Jeanne took Jaydyn to the toy aisle and this is what she came back wearing (it fits her personality well).

In an attempt to wake Jaydyn up after a bottle… I was not successful.  She was OUT!

On the 11th Jaydyn and I had a bed day where we stayed in bed as long as possible and watch television, but I think she had other plans for the day.

I did however get her a little walker thinking that it would build her leg strength, but much to my surprise her legs wont touch the ground.  It didn’t appear to phase her but she was quite funny hanging there.

She is also getting better at holding her own bottle until she decides to put her hands above her head and run her fingers through her hair until she falls asleep.  At that point, I am once again needed to be the bottle holder.

She turn 3 months old, so I had to get a picture with her BlahBlah doll.

Weeks 10 & 11

Well I have certainly been busy over the past weeks taking care of the little Diva.  The last time I took her to the doctors office she was running a little bit of a fever so they didn't want to give her her immunizations, so we went back last week to get them.  Needless to say, Jaydyn was happy until the nurse came in to give her the shots.  She got one in each leg and an immunization by mouth.  She screamed for an all of about a minute and then was fine.  Not that its funny, but every time she looked at me she cried and then would stop.  She had her little attitude going. We also had a Tropical Storm that was stationary over NE Florida (Tropical Storm Debby) that dumped tons of water on us for at least 5 days.  Many of the counties around us were flooded and they even shut down Interstate 10 as a result of flooding.  Still one week later the St. Mary's River is still rising and has reached record highs.  Along with record high rain, we also are experiencing record high heat.  For 1 week straight we have been around 99' and according to the meteorologist it feels like 118'.    Here are some pictures of what we had to drive through in the neighborhood to get to our house.

Friday morning I decided to take Jaydyn to the neighborhood pool for her first pool adventure.  We got to the pool and she was not to fond of the cold water.  I have to admit, neither was I and I totally didnt think about the water being cold from all of the recent rains.  We were in the water for maybe about 5 mins and then decided to get back out.  Here is a picture of her before we got in the pool:

Once we got out of the pool, I took her swimming suit off and changed her diaper.  In between changing her diaper and getting her dressed, I turned around to throw away the old diaper and when I turned back around this is what I saw:

Yep she is sleeping, has her own chair and the pacifier was going 100-miles-per-hour.  Not only was the pacifier running, she also had it clinking against the bottom of her glasses, but it didnt appear to phase her in the least.

Then last Friday night I decided that I would have a night out with a friend and left her off with my mom for the first time.  I am 100% sure that she was spoiled the whole time there.  We went to see the movie Magic Mike (which was so-so) and then I went back to my moms to pick the lil one up.

On Sunday, my sister-in-law (Tara) came to Jacksonville, Florida with her 3.5 yr old son Braxton.  It was great seeing them since we had not seen each other since Thanksgiving of 2010.  Tara nor Brax had meet Jaydyn since she was born, so it was greatly over due to spend some time with the family.   Braxton was not to fond of Jaydyn in the beginning and didnt like his mom holding Jaydyn, but he quickly warmed up to her.  We were able to get some cute pictures of them two together after some clever bribary.   Thanks Tara for coming to see us!!
Spanky wanted in the picture too!

Cousinly LOVE!!
Just this past Monday, we went to get her ears pieced.  She cried for and all 10 seconds and then was fine.  I think that I was more worried about her pain than she felt.  I actually went to the mall and walked by the ear piercing store 2 times before actually going in.  Here is a picture of her before and after the ear piercing.

In observation of the 4th of July, I decided to make Jaydyn her first 4th of July outfit.  I modeled it after another outfit that she has.  She will be sporting the outfit tomorrow.

Here are also some additional photos of this past week, enjoy!!
